Inspiration, not duplication

tips on honoring your art while keeping true to a client’s request

As florists, reinterpreting an inspiration photo for a wedding is a delicate balance between replication and innovation. We must deeply understand the elements in the inspiration photo – in this case, the classic fall vibe, and the specific flowers used. It is crucial to probe what aspects of the inspiration the client loves. In this example, the client liked the shape and colors but was not attached to specific flowers.

Our interpretation

The couple's story and values should guide our reinterpretation. This project teaches us that the goal is to transform the inspiration, adapting it to the couple's needs, such as budgetary constraints, without losing the vibe.

For instance, we replaced the more expensive flowers with similar, budget-friendly ones. The finer details, like matching flower colors to the brightness of the inspiration photos, can significantly influence the overall feel of the event. (If the photographer had used a moodier filter and the client liked the colors in the photo, we might have opted for terra cotta and peach roses complemented with burgundy berries instead of these.)

So, remember, our aim is to create a unique wedding that feels inspired by the photo, NOT duplicating it. It's about capturing the vibe, adding personal touches reflecting the couple's story and values, and delivering a product that the client loves.
